Cut and Run

A looming structure bearing the Funato crest turns out to be a fortress that Kagura deduces was built from technology stolen from Kirigakure, since the clan never wielded such firepower. He sends Boruto, Kawaki, and Buntan to scout it while the rest wait to meet Sarada and Mitsuki. Team 5 briefs the pair on how the Funato have organized Dotō Island and where the islanders are held, and they settle on a plan: Team 5 will seize a Funato transport ship, with Denki most likely to pilot it, while Sarada and Mitsuki quietly smuggle out the hostages. Boruto propels himself onto the fortress using Kawaki's blast and his own Wind Release, then drops a rope so Buntan and Kawaki can climb up.

Inside, Tenma Funato kills a recruit in a death match and celebrates news of Araumi's breakout, eager to join his father and brother yet ordered to keep gathering gold. He bristles at the notion he might succeed the clan over Araumi and Isari. A hostage betrays the presence of Konoha citizens among the captives to buy his freedom, tipping the Funato that a rescue is coming.

Sarada and Mitsuki take out the guards and reach the mines, freeing the hostages toward the harbor where Team 5 secures a ship. When the Funato bind the captives with Water Release, the two feign surrender before dropping the enemy with genjutsu and snakes. Denki clears the ship with a smoke-flash bomb but struggles to hotwire it, finally starting the engine with his Lightning Release as the others hold off the boarding Funato. Metal Lee and Iwabee cheer. Inside the fortress, Boruto's group discovers a giant scientific ninja tool weapon, while Denki steers the stolen ship toward Kagura as another Funato boat closes in.

Sarada, Mitsuki, and Team 5 free the hostages and commandeer a Funato transport ship, with Denki starting it using Lightning Release. Tenma Funato is introduced killing a recruit and learning of Araumi's escape.

The episode belongs to the Boruto series Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc. Its opening theme is GOLD and the ending theme is VOLTAGE. It aired in Japan on February 13, 2022, and in English on November 14, 2023. Trivia notes that Boruto's Kāma is mistakenly drawn on his left hand rather than his right during his Wind Release leap.
