Summary

Sword drawn, Sasuke faces Killer B, host of the Eight-Tails, and quickly relieves him of the Kubikiribocho, tossing it back to Suigetsu. B answers by deploying his seven blades and wielding them with every part of his body, infusing them with Lightning Release to block Sasuke's Chidori-charged sword. A near miss leaves Sasuke impaled on two of the swords, and Karin lets him bite her to heal the wounds. Taka then coordinates their assault, with Suigetsu trapping B's fist through his Hydrification Technique so Sasuke can shock them both by conducting Chidori through the water. B shrugs off a follow-up, decides he has had enough, and shifts into his Version 1 cloak, a sight that reminds Sasuke of Naruto during their old clash.

When B transforms fully into the Eight-Tailed Ox, Jugo's jet boosters rescue Karin and Suigetsu, and Suigetsu shapes the surrounding water into a demonic fish to absorb a Tailed Beast Ball and save his teammates. Stunned that Suigetsu would risk everything for him, and recalling Karin and Jugo doing the same, Sasuke thinks of Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura, and his left eye awakens into the Mangekyo. He unleashes Amaterasu on the beast, then discovers he can control the black flames when he extinguishes them to spare Karin. B is left unconscious, and Sasuke has Jugo gather both Karin and the captured jinchuriki.

Watching from hiding, the Kumo shinobi J and K spot the Akatsuki robes and the Uchiha crest, and remembering that their village lost Yugito Nii to the Akatsuki, they resolve to report to the Raikage, who is B's own brother. As the group starts back toward their hideout, Jugo asks whether Sasuke is holding up, since he never fully recovered from his fight with Itachi, and Sasuke admits the battle was tougher than he expected but the mission still succeeded.

Notes

The episode draws on the manga's 411th through 415th chapters within the Fated Battle Between Brothers arc. It shows Killer B pointing out that genjutsu fails against a jinchuriki in full control of their beast, since the beast's chakra can free the host. The turning point comes as Sasuke's bond with his teammates awakens his fuller Mangekyo powers and command over Amaterasu's flames.
