The Iron Wall's Sensing System

The Konoha Barrier Team demonstrates its new sensing network by pinpointing a disguised Sai, drawing admiration from the younger shinobi, though Inojin stays indifferent. Ino walks them through the barrier team's history and explains how the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team automated and refined the system. Because it only flags unregistered chakra once an intruder actually breaches the barrier, a rapid-response squad is essential, so Ino assembles sensory-skilled shinobi for an operational test with staged infiltration teams they must catch. Boruto and Shikadai reconnect with Inojin, who admits he was recruited for his strong sensing grades learned early from his mother, while the other two were placed on the infiltration side, Shikadai memorising fresh Bingo Book entries as a chūnin. Fellow Yamanaka clansman Kohan introduces himself as Inojin's partner.

Kohan, unaware Ino even had a grown son, promises to go all out, and Inojin is surprised his mother is so respected since he only ever watched her tend the flower shop. He fails to apprehend anyone that morning, and confesses to Sai that he fears Ino is disappointed in him. Sai reveals Ino's devotion to sensing stems from her father Inoichi, who died in the war and inspired her, and that she never pressures Inojin because she hopes to inspire him too. Asking Kohan to help him improve, Inojin locates Shikadai in the afternoon test but also detects a stranger nearby whose signature reads as registered. Convinced by Shikadai to follow up, the group finds that the man Inojin sensed, Mokume Arai, had left the village the day before for a wedding. Shikadai recalls a Bingo Book entry on Hyōi Yorishiro, who can mimic others' chakra and slip past the barrier undetected. Unable to cover a crowded area alone, Inojin draws birds with his Super Beast Imitating Drawing and channels his sensing through them to find and capture Hyōi. Ino agrees sensing is not her son's calling but tells him that is perfectly fine, and reassures him she treasures both her work and the flower shop.

Ino runs a full operational trial of the automated barrier sensing system with infiltration and response teams. Inojin, doubtful of his own ability, notices a chakra signature that does not add up and, with Shikadai and Boruto, traces it to the impostor Hyōi Yorishiro, who mimics registered chakra to cross the barrier undetected. Inojin captures him by extending his sensing through ink birds made with his own chakra.

The episode also deepens the bond between Ino and Inojin, revealing that Ino's passion for sensing honours her late father Inoichi, and that she supports her son whatever path he chooses.

The entry centres on the Yamanaka clan and Konoha's defensive infrastructure, tying Ino's expertise back to Inoichi Yamanaka and his death in the Fourth Shinobi World War. Inojin's use of the Super Beast Imitating Drawing as a sensory medium shows a creative blend of his family's mind techniques and his father's ink art. The captured intruder Hyōi Yorishiro represents a new type of threat the barrier team must adapt to, prompting Ino to plan upgrades against impostors.
