The Power of the Nine-Tails

Frustrated by Boruto's meddling, Urashiki casts his line at the young Naruto but reels back an empty hook, and Sasuke privately guesses the fūinjutsu binding the Nine-Tails is to blame. Dodging Sasuke with his Rinnegan, Urashiki notes his rival is short of full strength, then restrains Naruto and pens Boruto, Sasuke, and Jiraiya behind stone before withdrawing to puzzle out the failure. Jiraiya, kept in the dark that the visitors come from the future, accepts Sasuke's cover story that Urashiki hunts the fox and may be tied to Akatsuki, and frees the group with a summoned toad.

Boruto lays out Urashiki's ability, and Jiraiya, echoing Sasuke, blames the seal for stopping the extraction, warning that forcing it open would doom everyone and kill Naruto. Reaching through the seal into Naruto's subconscious, Urashiki approaches Kurama, but the seal burns his hand and repels him. He siphons only a sliver of chakra, decides the seal must be further weakened, and heals himself with what little he took. Naruto then repels the hook and snaps the line as Sasuke, Boruto, and Jiraiya arrive. Sasuke attacks and is hooked in turn, yet the fūinjutsu on him leaves Urashiki with nothing.

The leaking chakra wraps Naruto in a Version 1 shroud and sends him rampaging, and though Boruto briefly calms him, the cloak drives him to attack again until Jiraiya slaps on a suppressing tag. Urashiki opens a portal and slips away to rethink his approach. Binding Boruto's wounds, Jiraiya describes the villagers' old prejudice against Naruto, and, certain their enemy will return, offers to train Boruto and Naruto side by side.
