Frustrated with his shuriken practice, Boruto grumbles to Sasuke that throwing weapons is simply an Uchiha gift suited to Sarada. Sasuke deflates the excuse by conjuring a crowd of shadow clones, noting that Boruto could just as easily claim his own four-clone limit as a specialty. Nearby, Gaara recounts being ambushed by Urashiki aboard the train, which convinces Sasuke an Otsutsuki is at work and prompts him to suggest halting the exams. Both Kage refuse, citing the political fallout of a cancellation. Tenten then opens the second round, a three-on-three contest to seize a rival team's flag.

Team Moegi swiftly dispatches its Mist rivals while other squads trade wins and losses across the field. When Sarada and Mitsuki move on the Senka brothers' flag, the triplets swarm Boruto, matching his clones with their own until Mitsuki doubles back to help. With the brothers nearly claiming victory, Boruto activates the forbidden Kote to unleash powerful Water and Lightning attacks, and Sarada breaks the genjutsu masking the real flag to snatch it. Unseen, Kosuke logs the scientific tool's use for Katasuke. Shikamaru relays to Naruto that both of their sons advanced, and Naruto later congratulates Boruto face to face.

Episode 57 of the Boruto anime adapts chapters 3 and 4 of the manga and forms part of the Versus Momoshiki Arc. It aired in Japan on May 10, 2018, and in English on April 21, 2020, with It's All in the Game as its opener and Beauties of Nature as its closer.
