Hinata clears away the shattered vase, reminding Himawari that the care she put into the gift is what truly counts. Boruto and Kawaki squabble over who gets the bathroom first, only for Naruto to shout from inside that they can go outside if it is that urgent. The two relieve themselves in the yard, then come to blows after a round of insults, flaring their Kāma until a shadow clone slips out of the bathroom to break them apart.

Over a meal, Boruto remarks how strange it is to have Naruto home all day and makes clear he still holds a grudge over the broken vase. When Hinata asks Kawaki which dishes he enjoys so she can cook them, he has no answer, since no one has ever bothered to ask him before.

Boruto vents about Kawaki during Team 7's training, while Naruto, Sai, and Shikamaru weigh their ongoing look into Kara. Kawaki wanders the village with Naruto quietly shadowing him, and by evening he returns to share dinner with the family. The next day he asks Boruto how he came by his Kāma, and Boruto explains his encounter with Momoshiki before turning the question back.

Kawaki describes the experiments Amado and Jigen subjected him to and the many children who died undergoing the same, unaware that Naruto is listening in. Now free of Kara, he says he wants to understand the mark so he can be rid of it, proposing that he and Boruto work together to strip both of theirs away.

Boruto agrees to the plan but reminds Kawaki once more that the vase is not forgiven. After Boruto leaves, Kawaki mulls over simply buying a replacement to end the constant nagging, and Naruto offers to show him around Konoha.
