Sasuke ventures into Naruto's inner world and cows the fox itself in this chapter. On the outside, his escape from Yamato and Orochimaru's calculated mercy keep Team 7 alive while pointing the way toward Itachi.
Deep in Naruto's subconscious, the Nine-Tails is startled to find Sasuke there and notes how closely he resembles Madara Uchiha. Sasuke forces the fox back, and as it recedes it cautions him against killing Naruto. Attention snaps back to the waking world, where Yamato drops his restraint and moves to seize Sasuke. Sasuke breaks free and readies a finishing strike, only for Orochimaru to halt him. Orochimaru argues that Team 7 ought to live, since they may well cut down another Akatsuki member and thereby smooth the path to killing Itachi. Persuaded, Sasuke leaves the scene with Orochimaru and Kabuto.
Sasuke enters Naruto's subconscious and suppresses the Nine-Tails, which likens him to Madara and warns him not to kill Naruto. In the real world Sasuke escapes Yamato's attempt to capture him. Orochimaru stops Sasuke from finishing Team 7, reasoning they may weaken Akatsuki, and the three depart with Kabuto.
