Now and Hereafter

The battlefield grows desperate as fire and force pour in from every direction courtesy of Obito, Madara, and the Ten-Tails. Chōji observes that Naruto's chakra cloaks are absorbing the brunt of the onslaught. When Sakura's cloak turns aside a massive kunai and a volley of magatama, she frets over whether sustaining such a feat will eventually cost Naruto. Warned by Kakashi, Naruto dodges an Obito strike and again rejects his ideology, insisting that a solitary man could never grasp the joy of standing among comrades. Obito seizes on a perceived flaw in that outlook, leaving Kakashi to wonder why he is probing Naruto this way.

Inside Naruto, Kurama frets over how he is faring while steering its divided chakra across the entire force at once. On the other side, Madara, grinning wildly, catches the scent of Hashirama's chakra on the field. The Ten-Tails looses a piercing shriek and shifts into yet another subtle new form.

Kurama alerts Naruto to the mounting threat as the air over the battlefield begins to change. Obito reflects that separating him and Madara from the beast was the Alliance's doing, and toys with the idea of becoming its jinchūriki himself. Kakashi tries to warp the creature away with Kamui but is cut off by Obito; calling on Naruto to manage the fight there, he and Obito banish one another into Kamui's dimension.

Elsewhere, Madara remarks that the real fun is beginning and shrouds himself in the ribcage of his Susanoo. Drawing on the Ten-Tails' power, the field erupts into earthquakes, thunderstorms, and tornadoes all at once.

Released in 2013 and collected in volume 66, this chapter falls within the Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax arc. The Viz edition titles it Here and Now, and Hereafter, while the Japanese reads Koko ni, Soshite Kore Kara. Kakashi and Obito's mutual banishment sets up the personal duel that unfolds inside Kamui's dimension.
