Summary

Townsfolk catch sight of Isshiki hovering over the rooftops as shinobi race to raise the alarm and clear the streets, while he scans the crowd for Kawaki using his Byakugan. Relaying the order through Ino, Shikamaru makes clear to every ninja that Isshiki is to be fought by Naruto and Sasuke and nobody else. Naruto heads off to meet him and sends Boruto to shelter. Pressing the Leaf's defenders and menacing the civilians, Isshiki demands Kawaki's whereabouts, and one of them owns up that the answer is simply unknown to them.

Key Events

Sai snatches the knocked-out Kawaki and points to a disused Anbu bunker sealed even against the Byakugan, calming Amado's worry about being spotted. Before withdrawing, Sasuke draws Boruto aside and admits their earlier strike on Jigen barely left a scratch. Piecing together Sarada's account of the Boro fight and Amado's words, he warns that Momoshiki was the true victor that day, and that Boruto's Kāma may be creeping toward control. Boruto steels himself to die in battle, yet the thought of his own body being commandeered fills him with dread.

Notes

Refusing to surrender Kawaki, Naruto lets the civilians fall into danger and the clash ignites, Isshiki booting him clean through a row of buildings. Sasuke trades positions with the foe, then flings his sword, the lone thing Isshiki cannot shrink, and it unfolds into Boruto with his Kāma blazing. Sasuke had secretly sworn, as the boy's mentor, to strike him down himself if Momoshiki seized him, a duty Naruto could never shoulder. Boruto rips a rift open and yanks Isshiki clear of the village, and once the two men lock onto his chakra, the trio gather to fight with nothing held back. The chapter appears in volume 13 of the Kawaki arc.
