The Breakdown of Negotiations…!!

Hinata and Himawari dispose of the shattered flower vase, with Hinata reassuring her daughter that the love poured into making it matters more than the object itself. When Boruto gets up for the bathroom, he runs into Kawaki on the same errand, and the two nearly come to blows over who goes first until Naruto barks from inside that it is occupied and sends them outside. They resume trading insults behind the house, the argument escalating into a fight in which both activate their Karma, before Naruto conjures a shadow clone to break it up. Over the meal that follows, Naruto chides Boruto for oversalting his food while Kawaki quietly studies the family's dynamic.

Getting ready to head out, Boruto is stopped by Kawaki, who asks how he obtained his Karma. Boruto brushes past the details of gaining it after beating Momoshiki and says he knows nothing of Jigen, then turns the question back. Kawaki recounts being kept suspended as one of Amado's test subjects, watching other children in his situation die as Jigen coldly kept attempting to forge them into vessels for Kara, indifferent to the losses. He remembers agony and a readiness to die before blacking out, only to wake with the mark on his left hand, and confesses he would rather have died than gone on suffering.

Kawaki wants the mark gone so Kara will leave him be, and warns that Boruto is likely a target too, proposing they work together to remove it. Boruto weighs the idea but refuses to let the broken vase slide, telling Kawaki to make it right with Himawari before he leaves. Naruto waves off the vase, yet Kawaki, inconvenient as he finds it, still presses for cooperation. Noting Kawaki has no money and warning him against stealing, Naruto is amused when Kawaki only tells him not to fret about another escape attempt, and invites the boy to come along.

Boruto and Kawaki fight outside the house, each activating their Karma before Naruto's shadow clone intervenes. Kawaki reveals how Amado's experiments and Jigen's ruthlessness left him with the mark on his left hand. He asks Boruto to help him get rid of Karma so Kara will stop hunting him. Boruto insists Kawaki apologize to Himawari for the vase, and Naruto takes Kawaki along with him.
