The Right Job for Idiots and Bastards

Naruto lays out for his son everything known and unknown about the drugs Amado engineered, cautioning that they may hide dangerous effects and could even prove fatal, and he insists the call belongs to Boruto alone. After a quick sniff and a single dry swallow, Boruto downs one pill and casually asks how many he should take each day, leaving his father stunned by how fast the choice was made. Boruto reasons that only testing them will reveal any consequences, and that he settled it so quickly because he had long since braced himself for the worst possible outcome.

At practice Boruto tells the others about the meds, prompting Kawaki to accuse him of jeopardizing their scheme to brand Code with a borrowed Kāma. Boruto brushes that off as merely one uncertain plan among several. When Kawaki dismisses standard drills as wasteful and lunges at Mitsuki, then trades blows with Sarada, the friction builds until Boruto suggests deciding the training question through a duel. Using clones as bait, Boruto maneuvers Kawaki into position for a Rasengan, then fires Lightning Release: Thunderclap Arrow. Kawaki instinctively moves to soak it up, discovers he no longer can, and falls.

Beaten and berating his own weakness, Kawaki hears Boruto urge him to stop shouldering every burden alone and to trust the team, since Kara's pursuit of Naruto and the village is not his fault. Watching from the sidelines, Naruto and Konohamaru remark on how much Boruto has matured. Kawaki grudgingly agrees to follow the group's way and vows to grow stronger.
