Summary
Naruto and Sakura break down over yet another failed attempt to bring Sasuke home. Sai lifts their spirits, reminding them that Orochimaru cannot claim Sasuke's body just yet, so there is still time, and he pledges to lend his help going forward. The group makes its way back to Konoha. Reporting to Danzō, Sai admits he did not carry out the order to kill Sasuke and instead asks to stay on with Team 7. Danzō consents but cautions him against forming bonds with others. Afterward Sai settles in to begin a new painting, only to set it aside so he can spend the time with the friends he has found.
