Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo

This Mythical Zoan turns its eater into an onyudo, a towering monk-shaped yokai from Japanese legend. The fruit was eaten by Onimaru, a komagitsune fox of Wano. Its name pairs hito, person or human, with the giant-monk spirit it conjures.

The transformation produces a huge, human-like monk; in Onimaru's case it stands over four meters tall. As one of the Hito Hito no Mi line, it bestows human intelligence and the gift of speech on a nonhuman user. The onyudo form comes equipped with bladed arms, most notably a naginata along with a sword sheathed at the hip, all of which vanish, together with the monk robes, when the user reverts. No weakness beyond the standard Devil Fruit drawbacks has been observed.

Onimaru is the fruit's user. By transforming from his fox shape into the naginata-wielding monk he calls Gyukimaru, he gains coherent speech and, given the fox's 69 years, a presumably stretched lifespan. The form carries great strength and speed: in their first meeting Gyukimaru kept pace with Roronoa Zoro's power and agility, fending off Zoro's twin blades with his polearm. A second clash went very differently, with Zoro overwhelming him easily, suggesting the first bout owed much to catching the swordsman off guard. Onimaru has yet to show any mythical powers beyond the transformation itself.
