A Paramecia Devil Fruit centered on teleportation, the Wapu Wapu no Mi lets whoever ate it flash instantly between locations and carry others along by touch. Van Augur wields it, using the power to reposition mid-fight and strike from angles no one expects.
Classed as a Paramecia, this fruit was consumed by the sniper Van Augur. Its Japanese name draws on wapu, a phonetic rendering of the English word warp, and it is titled the Warp-Warp Fruit in translation. The ability first appeared when Augur put it to use in combat, and he is said to have obtained it as one prize of the Blackbeard Pirates hunting down Devil Fruits.
What the fruit grants is instantaneous movement. Its holder can blink from one spot to another without crossing the space between, and by making contact with a person, that individual can be sent along too. Range depends heavily on skill: an untrained user is confined to short jumps, and practice widens the reach over time, though whether the limit can be erased entirely remains open. Reaction speed matters as well, since the user has to register an incoming blow before warping clear of it, which leaves faster or surprise attacks able to land first. Beyond that and the ordinary Devil Fruit drawbacks, its shortcomings are not yet clear.
Van Augur is the sole holder. In practice he leans on the fruit to sidestep close fighting and hold his long-range edge, jumping his whole crew from a vessel onto an island during a chase, plucking a falling ally out of the air, and slipping away from opponents. His signature application, simply called Warp, is the plain act of relocating, first named at Winner Island, where he blinked through the air to reach Blackbeard. He continues to train toward mastering the power. The teleportation echoes Trafalgar Law's Shambles, though Law's version is capped by his ROOM and forces a swap, whereas this fruit shows no such restriction so far.
The Wapu Wapu no Mi is a Paramecia Devil Fruit that grants instant teleportation, letting its user warp between locations and bring others along through touch. It is known in English as the Warp-Warp Fruit.
Van Augur, the sniper of the Blackbeard Pirates, is the sole known user of the Wapu Wapu no Mi, having obtained it while the crew hunted down Devil Fruits.
The Wapu Wapu no Mi's range depends on the user's skill, starting with short jumps that widen with practice, and the user must register an incoming attack before warping away, so faster or surprise strikes can still land.
The Wapu Wapu no Mi's teleportation resembles Trafalgar Law's Shambles, but unlike Law's ability, which is limited to his ROOM and forces a swap between targets, the Wapu Wapu no Mi shows no such restriction so far.
Van Augur's signature use of the Wapu Wapu no Mi is simply called Warp, the act of instantly relocating himself, first named when he blinked through the air to reach Blackbeard on Winner Island.
