Bakezo

The standout feature on Bakezo is the silver bucket he wears as a helmet, marked across the front with G-5 in bold blue letters. Tall and tan of skin, he has narrow eyes, a large nose, and thick lips, plus long brown hair joined by a beard and mustache. His outfit combines a beige cape over a green long-sleeved shirt, with grey trousers, light brown gloves, and brown shoes completing it, and a sword usually rides on his back.

Pride and genuine care both define Bakezo, traits borne out when he gave up his own life to protect his captain.

A distress call mentioning a samurai brought Smoker's G-5 unit to Punk Hazard to investigate, and the squad sailed into the island's poisoned, sharply split climate. Trafalgar Law ambushed them there, slicing apart their airborne vessel and several Marines before Smoker stalled him so the others could escape with the wounded Tashigi. When the Centaur Patrol Unit struck outside the laboratory, Bakezo took on Smooge and branded him a monster.

As the Shinokuni gas spread across the island, Bakezo and his comrades drove a heavy slab of metal into a gap to seal the lab, then trailed Tashigi to recover the abducted children. After a cannon blast ripped the wall open and let the gas flood in, Bakezo and several others gave their lives to shield their captain and squad, freezing in place while holding up a thumbs-up as the door shut. He reappeared when Monet tried to blow up the island, and hope for his recovery returned once the Marines found that anyone trapped in the Shinokuni could still be revived.
