Abilities

Sickness leaves Byojack weak and brittle, and he is usually carried perched on World's shoulder; his combat ability is essentially zero. Still, being the World Pirates' second-in-command grants him authority over the rest of the crew below the captain. His real value lies in intelligence work: by operating a battery of Den Den Mushi he eavesdrops on the Marines and World Government, keeping himself exceptionally well informed and serving as a shrewd adviser to his brother. The illness he contracted as a child stunted his growth and left him fragile, though it never threatened his life, and he passed eighty years of age. It was Byojack who first told his younger brother of the sea's wonders and urged him to set out; World agreed only on the condition that Byojack come too. After growing up they formed the World Pirates, but when the Marines laid siege thirty years ago, Byojack and the rest of the crew fell back, leaving World behind to be seized and shut away in Impel Down. Following World's escape during the 3D2Y events, Byojack reunited with him and grew anxious as his brother fixated on vengeance over the crew's wellbeing. World finally declared he had only been using Byojack and the ship, sparing him no further worth, but Luffy, overhearing this, shielded Byojack from the attack and knocked the captain down. After World's last cannon strike was halved by Mihawk, Byojack stayed loyally at his fallen brother's side as the Marines blew up the ship, and whether he survived is left unknown.
