Cavendish of the White Horse, nicknamed the Pirate Prince, is a Super Rookie who captains the Beautiful Pirates. An exiled royal turned gladiator, he joined the Corrida Colosseum to win the Mera Mera no Mi, then walked away from Dressrosa as one of Luffy's grand fleet captains.
So beautiful that bystanders of either gender may swoon at the sight of him, Cavendish has bright sky-blue eyes drawn the way Oda normally renders women. He is slim but well-built, and at 208 centimeters he stands quite tall, his blond hair kept long and loose past the shoulders.
For dress he favors a black musketeer tricorne with a tall aqua plume, a ruffled white V-neck below a coat slung across his shoulders, dark trousers, and buckled heeled boots, with the rapier Durandal hanging on his left. When his other self Hakuba takes over, his face darkens into a hollow-eyed, toothless grin and his tidy curls unravel into a wild mess.
Underneath the good looks lies an immense ego. Vain, boastful, and starved for notice, Cavendish holds a bitter resentment toward the Worst Generation, whose rise stole his limelight, even venting by stabbing their wanted posters. His envy can turn deadly, and yet he has a soft spot for animals, cherishing his horse Farul and erupting in fury whenever the steed comes to harm.
His royal upbringing left him with refined, extravagant tastes, and for all his pettiness he turns out to be genuinely principled, shielding Rebecca from a hostile crowd and honoring his pledge to drop his grudge against Luffy after Usopp saved him. The deadliest part of him is Hakuba, a pitiless second personality that surfaces when he falls asleep and lashes out at everyone nearby. He knows it is there and clamps down on it with sheer will, the two forever wrestling over their shared body.
Even without a Devil Fruit, Cavendish carries a 330,000,000 bounty, and Vice Admiral Bastille brands him a genius with the sword, while Hakuba lends him speed too quick for the eye to follow. His swordsmanship can compress the air into slashes that cleave through stone, and he also commands both Armament and Observation Haki. He owns the white stallion Farul and rides with exceptional skill.
Born as heir to the Bourgeois Kingdom and raised at Farul's side, Cavendish grew so adored that the kingdom's women refused to wed anyone else, and he was finally cast out with a handful of retainers and a fortune. In the Rommel Kingdom his sleeping half became infamous as the Kamaitachi, a wind rumored to cut people down, before he set out as a pirate and made his name in the New World, only to be eclipsed by the Worst Generation.
At the Corrida Colosseum he competed to claim the Mera Mera no Mi, chatting warmly with the disguised Luffy until Chinjao exposed him, after which he turned murderous. He dozed off in D Block and let Hakuba slice through the twenty strongest fighters, leaving Rebecca as the lone survivor before he collapsed and was disqualified. Later, after Sugar turned him into a toy and Usopp freed him, he abandoned his grudge, fought through Pica and Gladius, struck down Dellinger as Hakuba, guarded Law and Robin, and after Doflamingo's fall pledged himself to Luffy as captain of the lead ship in the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
Cavendish eventually gives up his grudge against the Worst Generation, fights through Doflamingo's forces at Dressrosa, and pledges himself to Luffy as captain of the first ship in the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.
Cavendish has not eaten any Devil Fruit; his 330,000,000 berry bounty comes purely from his skill with the sword and the speed of his alter ego Hakuba.
Cavendish is often associated with dissociative identity disorder because he carries a second personality named Hakuba, a pitiless alter ego that takes over whenever he falls asleep and that Cavendish must constantly fight to control.
