Appearance

At its core sit Linlin and her eighty-five children, thirty-nine daughters and forty-six sons, the product of forty-three husbands she took purely to breed a large and varied family. Beginning at eighteen and continuing for forty-two straight years, she gave birth roughly once a season, often several offspring at a time. Her deliveries break down into twenty-two single births, eleven sets of twins, six of triplets, two of quadruplets, one set of quintuplets, and a record-setting batch of decuplets born eighteen years ago.

Because she chose mates across many races, the bloodline spans humans alongside hybrids descended from snakeneck, longleg, longarm, merfolk, three-eye, fish-man, and dwarf partners. Several children have gone on to have offspring of their own. Most members also belong to the Big Mom Pirates, and Linlin keeps marrying her children off to strong allies so each union swells the crew's power.

Personality

Beneath a veneer of warmth, the family runs on fear and exploitation. Linlin treats her husbands as disposable, casting them aside once they have served their purpose and even granting her children leave to kill them, since she counts the fathers as outsiders. She shows scarcely more tenderness toward the children themselves, dictating their marriages, mocking Pudding for her third eye, and stripping away the lifespans of Moscato and Opera during a craving fit. Defiance can be a death sentence, as Lola's flight from an arranged marriage to the giant prince Loki turned the matriarch murderous and spilled over onto Lola's lookalike twin Chiffon.

The siblings, terrified of her, frequently band together for missions or to avenge a fallen brother, yet rivalry and spite cut through their ranks as well. Genuine affection survives in pockets: Katakuri rescued Brulee and Galette from danger, and grief rippled through the family when he himself fell to Luffy. By contrast, Chiffon and Praline broke fully with their mother out of love for their husbands, with Chiffon ceasing to view Big Mom as a parent at all and branding her a monster.

History

The line began over fifty years ago with the birth of Perospero, the event that earned Linlin her famous nickname, and grew almost yearly until she had amassed eighty-five children. Twenty-six years back she bore the twins Chiffon and Lola, then discarded their father Pound; eight years ago she produced her youngest, Anana. Even during her days among the Rocks Pirates she had already mothered several children, some of whom accompanied her at Hachinosu and grew close to her crewmates.

Her dream of a unified bloodline drove a fateful alliance bid when Loki of Elbaf fell for her daughter Lola. Linlin saw a chance to end her feud with the giants and outmuscle the other Emperors, but Lola fled to choose her own husband. The attempt to pass Chiffon off as Lola failed to fool Loki, deepening the rift with the giants and pushing Big Mom to chase strength by other means, while marking Lola as a target for assassination.
