Praline is a mermaid of mixed human and hammerhead-shark descent who ranks as the forty-seventh of Big Mom's children and the twenty-first daughter, born just after her twin Prim. After marrying Aladine she surrendered her post as Totto Land's Minister of Design, enlisted with his Sun Pirates, and broke from her own kin.
Freckles and pale blue eyes mark this large mermaid, whose blonde hair, knotted into a bun behind her head, trails off into a long extension shaped like a hammerhead shark's crest; what hides under that mass stays a mystery. She rests on a dark tail capped at the front by a frilly scrap of cloth, drapes herself in a dark open jacket with flowered edges, and bares the pointed hammerhead teeth that fill her mouth. Standing 800 cm, she looms over her husband Aladine and in fact ranks as the tallest child Big Mom ever bore.
Possessiveness runs through her, and merely imagining Aladine's departure can stir her temper, yet the love she bears him is real, real enough that she puts him over her own mother and would desert Big Mom outright should the Sun Pirates ever quit the crew. A playful streak surfaces too: after the Sun Pirates wrecked her mother's plan to slay the Straw Hats, she laughed and waved cheerily at her relatives to rub their failure in. Her trademark laugh sounds out as "Shashasha."
Praline came into the world twenty-nine years ago, fathered by Linlin's twenty-second husband and delivered alongside her twin Prim. Once the Marineford war ended, she wed Aladine to cement the bond between her family and the Sun Pirates. When Jinbe announced he meant to abandon the Big Mom Pirates, she stormed in fuming, certain Aladine intended to leave her, but she declared she would pick him over her mother every time and threw her arms around him, then cautioned Jinbe that nobody bold enough to voice such a wish to Big Mom had ever lived to see another sunrise. She knew of Bege's scheme to assassinate her mother and helped shield Jinbe's role in it from Pekoms, then drew on her mermaid gifts of underwater breathing, swift swimming, and fish-speech, plus a singing voice powerful enough to spellbind every territorial sea slug across the floor of the whole Totto Land archipelago. With that voice she lulled the slugs into uselessness so her allies could slip free, then sailed at the Sun Pirates' side toward Cacao Island, backing Jinbe and the Straw Hats and helping the Thousand Sunny escape just before Big Mom turned up.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
