Daizu

Pig-derived features dominate Daizu's look, the legacy of an experiment gone wrong: a snout for a nose and the ears of a swine. He stands at roughly average height and keeps a head of unkempt orange hair. A dark blue, broad-brimmed hat with a dark band is tugged down to shadow his face, paired with a pale coat over a dark jacket and dark trousers. A light scarf circles his neck, and a bandolier crosses his chest.

Daizu's strength lies in science rather than raw combat, and he knows the facility's energy machine intimately. He weaponizes that knowledge by venting scalding steam to wound Tony Tony Chopper and keep him at bay, and he supplements the tactic with a machine gun in close fights.

Alongside Fang, Edamame, and Azuki, Daizu pursued research aimed at granting animal traits to people. A catastrophic accident during one trial mutated the team, plus Fang's brother Raccoon who happened to be nearby. Azuki, Edamame, and Daizu took on pig-like features while Fang became a wolf. The villagers grew to revile them for their changed forms, and after the group fended off a pirate raid they concluded the townsfolk had hired the attackers, breeding a fierce hatred of humans, especially in Fang and Daizu.

When the Straw Hats reached the island, Chopper and Usopp stumbled onto a concealed laboratory in a cave's lower depths where Daizu was working. Unwilling to let them leave with his secret exposed, he fought them, using steam and his rifle to fend off the reindeer before Chopper overcame him. He staggered up again only to be put down by Usopp's Kemuri Boshi, after which Fang arrived. Daizu later ambushed Chopper and a companion once more on floor 20 and was beaten a second time. Once Fang too was defeated and gave up his scheme, everyone returned to the village for a celebration.
