Fang

Fang is a towering, beast-like figure whose coat is light brown, with lengthy arms that end in sizable claws. His jaw is squared, his neck thick, and his nose dark brown with a rounded tip. Bluish-silver hair drops into long bangs around his face, while mammalian ears poke through, furred on the outside and pink within.

He dresses in a white button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled to just under the elbow, a teal scarf, purple trousers, and brownish-green shoes trimmed with fur, topped by a black-and-red cape with a broad collar. The pelt of a white wolf hangs across him, its limbs wound around his sleeves. When he assumes his complete wolf shape he swells far larger, gaining black fur-covered arms, red fur down his back, and red eyes.

Fang burns to avenge his island against the humans who tried to strip its resources, and ever since his own transformation a deep distrust of people has gripped him, so much so that he means to turn all of humanity into creatures like himself. Convinced the villagers had arranged an earlier pirate raid and that the Straw Hats served them, he pressed on with his plan even at the risk of harming his cherished brother Raccoon.

He was not always this way. Once he sincerely cared for the villagers' welfare, and after his defeat the broken trust between them slowly begins to mend. He also grows fascinated by the legendary Kappa after word spreads that some pirate had supposedly turned into one.

Fang once lived contentedly with Raccoon in their island village, following in the steps of his grandfather, a celebrated scientist who built a machine to harness solar energy and turned the frozen winter island into warm green meadows. Inheriting that machine, Fang ran further experiments with three colleagues while researching how to graft animal traits onto humans. The work went disastrously wrong in an accident that reshaped Fang into a wolf-like being, Raccoon into a raccoon, and the colleagues Azuki, Edamame, and Daizu into humanoid pigs. Believing no cure could exist, and wrongly blaming the villagers for a pirate attack he had repelled, he resolved to convert everyone and eventually the whole Grand Line.

When the Straw Hats arrived and were changed overnight, only the already-animal Chopper stayed himself and managed an antidote Fang had thought impossible. Through a string of confrontations, Raccoon repeatedly led the crew to his brother and finally took a blow meant to protect him, pleading with Fang to reconsider. Once Chopper came to reassure him that his brother was healing, the two faced off decisively; Fang turned fully into a giant wolf yet still fell. Carried back and treated, he gradually reconciled with the others, then later set out to explore a hidden temple chamber in search of a Kappa.
