Appearance

Killer is a tall, powerfully built man whose wild blond hair sprays out in every direction, reaching nearly to his thighs. He keeps his whole head sealed inside a striped helmet pierced with rows of holes and fitted with what look like headphones, and wears a black polka dotted shirt left open at the chest, riding chaps over grey blue trousers, and a red sash. His weapons are paired handguards mounting long detachable scythes, stowed in a green sheath at his hip when idle.

After the two year gap he bulks up, grows a goatee, and bears a vein like scar along his left forearm, while his hair, now shorter, reaches only down his back, and he changes into a blue shirt marked with his own Jolly Roger. As the assassin Kamazo he abandons the helmet, his face wrapped in bandages, his hair in a high ponytail, clad in a violet kimono dotted with sickle shapes. By the Fire Festival he had recovered his cracked helmet.

Personality

Much like his fellow Kid Pirates, Killer mixes a touch of arrogance with a cooler head, often steadier than his hot tempered captain, and he stays nearly silent in a fight save for the rasp of his blades. He knows more history than Kid and frequently plays the voice of reason, defusing a brawl between Kid and Apoo and urging restraint before meetings.

His loyalty defines him. To save his endangered crew he agreed to eat a SMILE fruit and serve Orochi, but the fruit was defective and robbed him of every feeling except mirth, leaving him only able to laugh, a cruel fate given how bitterly he loathes his own laughter. Under the Kamazo persona he became a gleeful killer who offered bystanders a chance to step aside but cut down anyone in his way. By the Onigashima raid much of his old self had resurfaced, though the fruit's effect lingered. His favorite food is spaghetti, and his helmet is shaped to let him eat without ever taking it off.

History

Killer was born on Kutsukku Island in the South Blue and grew up alongside Kid, sharing a curry udon meal with their first love, Victoria, whose murder by a rival gang led Kid to unite the island's four towns and form a pirate crew with Killer as his second. He earned a bounty of 162,000,000 Berries by the time the crew reached Sabaody, where he traded blows with Urouge before X Drake broke them apart, then helped fight free of the Marines at the auction house. After the war at Marineford the crew pressed into the New World, where his bounty later climbed to 200,000,000 Berries.

His crew met Kaidou after Doflamingo's fall and refused to bow, leaving Kid and Killer beaten and the crew scattered. Orochi then handed Killer the faulty SMILE and set him loose as the manslayer Kamazo, sending him after the child Toko, which brought him into conflict with Zoro near Ringo; Zoro seized one of his scythes and struck him down. Imprisoned at Udon with a recaptured Kid, Killer endured Queen's water torture before the prison break freed them both.

Reunited with his crew and his old identity for the Fire Festival, Killer fought through Onigashima, traded attacks with Kaidou alongside Zoro, and managed to wound the Emperor with his soundwave generating Punishers before a lightning bolt from Big Mom struck him. He squared off against his former ally Hawkins, who linked his own injuries to Kid's body to force Killer onto the defensive, yet Killer outmaneuvered the trick and cut Hawkins down. After the victory and Wano's liberation he celebrated with his crew, then set sail again. At Elbaph the crew ran into the Red Hair Pirates, and Killer threw himself in front of Shanks to protect Kid, taking a grievous blow as their ship was split apart.
