Kingbaum is a giant tree homie among the Big Mom Pirates, appointed overseer of the Seducing Woods, the maze that shields Whole Cake Island. Once the Straw Hats hold Big Mom's Vivre Card, he is bound to obey them, and that unwilling treachery sees him torn apart again and again as the crew flees Totto Land.
Kingbaum is a towering tree homie built around a wide trunk of light gray, crowned with a heavy mass of bluish-gray foliage. His face features tiny eyes, a long pointed nose, a sweeping handlebar mustache, and a mouth crowded with sharp teeth over a large tongue, while his two arms are so stubby they cannot even meet across his body. Over the course of events he is repeatedly broken apart, losing the crown of his head to a stray slash, being split vertically by Amande, stitched whole again, then partly carved away by Big Mom and finally scorched black by Prometheus.
Kingbaum takes his guardianship of the Seducing Woods gravely, set on killing any intruder and proud enough to consider outside help an insult to his and his subordinates' abilities. He is the lone homie unafraid of Charlotte Cracker, yet like all homies he is helpless before the soul-power of a Vivre Card carrying Big Mom's essence. He has a verbal tic of ending sentences with the suffix -ju, drawn from a reading of the kanji for tree, which the English versions swap out for tree-themed puns.
A power of Charlotte Linlin's, the Soru Soru no Mi, turned Kingbaum into a homie and set him over the Seducing Woods, where no known intruder ever escaped alive. When Cracker arrived to take charge of attacking the Sanji Retrieval Team, Kingbaum bristled at being sidelined, then joined the pursuit of Nami and Pound until Nami produced Big Mom's Vivre Card, which forced him and the other homies into her service. Branded a traitor by Cracker, he was made to protect Nami and later carry Luffy toward the Whole Cake Chateau after Cracker's defeat. Charlotte Amande punished his unwilling betrayal by slowly cutting him in half, killing him, though Lady Tree, his fiancee, later stitched the two halves back together and revived him. Pressed into service yet again by the remaining Vivre Card half, he ferried the fleeing Straw Hats until a crazed Big Mom sliced into him with Napoleon. Reminded by Nami that his fiancee gave him a reason to live, he charged through his own subordinates blocking the crew's path, only for Prometheus to denounce the betrayal and burn him down as the Straw Hats escaped.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
The tree guy in One Piece is Kingbaum, a towering tree homie of the Big Mom Pirates who serves as master of the Seducing Woods, the maze protecting Whole Cake Island. He was created from Charlotte Linlin's Soru Soru no Mi power and normally lets no intruder leave his forest alive.
Once Nami obtained Big Mom's Vivre Card, Kingbaum was forced to protect and later carry the fleeing Straw Hats, an act his own side branded as treachery. Charlotte Amande cut him in half for it, and though his fiancee Lady Tree stitched him back together, he was ultimately burned down by Prometheus while helping the crew escape Totto Land.
The Seducing Woods is the maze on Whole Cake Island that Kingbaum was appointed to oversee. No known intruder ever escaped it alive before the Straw Hats arrived, and Kingbaum was fiercely proud of defending it without outside help.
Kingbaum did not choose to turn against Big Mom willingly; like all of her homies, he was helpless before the soul power of her Vivre Card, which forced him to serve and protect Nami and the Straw Hats once she held it. Charlotte Cracker still branded him a traitor for it.
Kingbaum's fiancee is Lady Tree, a fellow homie who stitched his two halves back together and revived him after Charlotte Amande killed him. Nami later reminded Kingbaum that Lady Tree gave him a reason to live, spurring him to push past his own subordinates to help the Straw Hats escape.
