Koiwa was a man of Wano Country some four decades ago, one of three bounty hunters who chased a fabled white boar for a reward. His greedy scheme collided with Kin'emon and, in the end, with the fury of the Mountain God.
Koiwa cuts a slim figure of about average height. His clothing includes a top patterned with clouds and a dark hood studded with shuriken, while a metal mask hides the area across his eyes.
Greed governs Koiwa, a man with little regard for superstition who readily set out to grab a white boar so as to claim the Kurokoma Family's reward. His dedication to that payday ran deep, with a full year poured into the hunt beside Oiwa and Nakaiwa, and his avarice stretched far enough that he would even grab passing bystanders if it brought him money. He once aimed to win a place among the Kouzuki Oniwabanshu, only to give up on the ambition partway.
As a combatant Koiwa amounted to little, losing to Kin'emon even with both of his partners at his side. His real strength lay in tracking, having spent a whole year locating the legendary creature and managing to capture it.
Around four decades and two years in the past, the trio of Koiwa, Oiwa, and Nakaiwa set off after the fabled white boar, their eyes on the Kurokoma Family's bounty. Roughly a year on they seized a piglet and started back toward the Flower Capital, pausing to eat at Tsurujo's teahouse, where they boasted of their catch. Kin'emon overheard the bragging, tailed the three once they departed, and made off with the boar. Bent on reclaiming it, they took Tsurujo hostage and headed down the mountain, only to be attacked by the Mountain God, which caught the scent of its young on them and swallowed Koiwa. What became of him is uncertain, though many devoured by the beast survived, and his condition 41 years afterward likewise goes unrecorded.
