Oiwa

A crescent scar marks the brow above Oiwa's left eye, and his nose tends to flush red. He carries a stout, rounded build, with brown hair that juts out on both sides beneath a topknot, heavy eyebrows, and a mouthful of broad circular teeth. His wardrobe shifted over the course of his misadventure: he started in a floral-patterned kimono worn under a white coat, lost those garments to Kin'emon, made do with only a loincloth for a stretch, then settled into a striped kimono once one turned up.

Money drives Oiwa more than caution or old superstition. He committed a full year to tracking down the legendary white boar alongside Koiwa and Nakaiwa, all to collect the Kurokoma Family's reward, and his greed ran far enough that he would snatch ordinary bystanders if it meant a payday. That nerve had limits, though, and the sight of the Mountain God replaced his ambition with raw terror.

Roughly forty-two years before the present, Oiwa and his two partners set out to claim the Kurokoma bounty by capturing the storied white boar of Wano. About a year into the hunt they cornered a baby boar and seized it, then began their trek back toward the Flower Capital. A meal stop at Tsurujo's teahouse undid them, because their boasting reached Kin'emon, who trailed the group and made off with both the boar and Oiwa's clothing.

Determined to recover their prize, the three men grabbed Tsurujo as a hostage and headed downhill, only to draw the Mountain God, which caught its cub's scent on them and devoured the trio. Oiwa alone slipped free. He fled to the Capital, confronted Kin'emon, and insisted the cub be carried back to the mountain. Outmatched in a straight fight even with two allies beside him, his real talent lay in tracking, and his fate forty-one years afterward was never recorded.
