Tanned skin, a blocky jawline, and a heavily muscled frame define this Waiter, who also bears a scar along the right side of his neck. His outfit pairs blue trousers with a brown belt held by a green and gold buckle, while a deep blue cape trimmed in brown fur hangs from his shoulders. Because he has not yet earned Gifter status, he sports a bat-eared mask, worn as practice for the look he hopes to one day adopt.

Ambition drives him: the mask is a rehearsal for becoming a Gifter and getting comfortable with a SMILE user's appearance. He matches the viciousness of the rest of his crew, eager to take Luffy captive and reduce him to a slave. He also holds little patience for underperformers, openly mocking his own beast Hihimaru for losing standing after failing to finish off a single Komainu.

Massui and a fellow Waiter snatched Tama and stuffed her into a sack once she brought up the Kouzuki Family, then trailed their baboon as it pursued Komachiyo to Kuri Beach. Spotting the Thousand Sunny anchored there, he alerted Basil Hawkins that a vessel had slipped into the country carrying a passenger. He steadied his rifle to pick off Luffy from a distance, even managing precise aim while perched on a moving Madsaurus, but Luffy had already detected him through Observation Haki and dropped him with a long-range punch. He was left sprawled and senseless on the sand as Luffy and Tama dealt with the other Waiter and won Hihimaru over.
