Maya (Video Game)

Maya is a young woman whose black hair reaches her shoulders. Her outfit is a red dress layered over a yellow shirt, finished with red shoes. Her looks bear an uncanny similarity to Kaya, a likeness that even Usopp remarks upon.

Kindness runs through Maya, who frets over her village's welfare and will put herself in danger to protect it. She is also extremely credulous, swallowing every one of Usopp's tall tales without question. A gift sets her apart from others: she can speak with the giant sea turtle of Great Ground, a habit she keeps up daily. She also looks after a baby sea turtle, one of a set of triplets and the only one yet hatched, which can somehow talk for reasons left unexplained.

Reira and Harry arrived on Great Ground after the Dokudamin herb and pressured Maya into handing it over, though she managed to stall them a day. Strolling the beach soon after, she met Nami, Usopp, and Dias, welcomed them, and learning they sought an herb, offered to lead them to Cola Village and her grandfather. After the Straw Hats encountered the giant turtle, she put them off helping until the following day. When Reira and Harry cornered her again, the Straw Hat trio intervened and drove the Drayke Pirates back, prompting Maya to note that they too were pirates. Once Nami explained their need for the Dokudamin, tied to Atoli's abduction and the Rainbow Eye, Maya consented, but admitted even she could not reach the turtle's guarded eggs to retrieve it.

A later poisoning of the village well sent Maya back to the turtle's shrine, where Nami stopped her from taking the herb for the pirates and won her over to standing against the Drayke Pirates. In the clash that followed, the Drayke crew, certain of defeat, triggered an explosion that shattered the eggs. The ground then trembled as Maya revealed the island sat atop a Sea King also called Great Ground; the frightened Drayke pair fled and the beast settled. With the baby turtles safely hatched, Maya thanked the Straw Hats and gave them the Dokudamin, the giant turtle no longer requiring it. She accompanied them back to the village and bid the crew goodbye the following day.
