Mekao

Short in stature and crowned with white hair, Mekao props a pair of red sunglasses up on his head. His work clothes are orange overalls trimmed with blue along the collar, and the Marine emblem is stamped across the back.

Warm-hearted and devoted to his craft, Mekao throws himself into his work with real enthusiasm. He worries over his daughter's safety and rarely turns down anyone who needs a hand. He also holds an unusual view of vessels, treating ships as though they were living creatures.

While stationed at G-8, Mekao listened as Usopp described the strange figure he had glimpsed beside the Going Merry back in Skypiea. Mekao started to offer an explanation, but Drake hauled him away before he could finish the thought. He later lent his help so the Straw Hat Pirates could slip free of the base. Fans have long assumed that, much like Franky, Mekao recognized the figure as a Klabautermann. He could not have said so at the time, since Oda had yet to introduce the concept, only doing so far later during the Water 7 Arc.
