A heavyset man, Potato keeps his hair bunched up tight and goes about in a plain tank top, with a rabbit tattoo inked on his shoulder. In the days before he reached the Sabaody Archipelago, he instead wore a leather vest over a white shirt printed with a black rabbit's head.

Little has been revealed of his temperament, though like most of Sorbet's people he stands firmly loyal to Bartholomew Kuma, ready to abandon his home so that Kuma's daughter Bonney could stay out of the government's hands. A more combative side may exist as well, since he has been seen leading a raid by the crew.

Potato was among the fishermen who looked after Jewelry Bonney while she lived with Sapphire Scales. When Conney urged the group to escort Bonney as she slipped away from the government's so-called protection, he agreed to leave the island behind. The men converted their fishing vessel into a pirate ship, gathered at a port, and set sail the moment Bonney appeared, cheering as she struck down a pursuing Alpha; that moment gave rise to the Bonney Pirates, whose shared goal was tracking down Kuma. A rumor of Kuma surfacing on an island sent them searching, but he had already teleported away.

The crew later turned up at Sabaody, where Bonney was devouring enormous quantities of food at an eatery on Grove 24. Once the Summit War ended, they pressed on toward the New World, ran into the Blackbeard Pirates, and were beaten and tied up, after which Akainu and the Marines took them into custody. By Conney's account, Potato fights well enough that rival pirates and sea beasts flee at the sight of him, though against the Blackbeard Pirates his strength counted for little. He carries a large sword slung across his back.
