History

As an archaeologist of Ohara, Roche could presumably read the Poneglyphs. The World Government branded Ohara's scholars demons for daring to study the forbidden stones, accusing them of plotting to destroy the world, and dispatched Spandine to call down a Buster Call. Roche died when the island was annihilated, consumed along with the Tree of Knowledge as he tried to rescue as many books as he could.
