Russian

Russian was a young woman whose brown hair fell to shoulder length above blue eyes, with twin clusters of freckles dotting her cheeks. Once she slipped into a vegetative state, her gaze turned empty and unfocused.

Tender and devoted, Russian poured her affection into her husband and son, though she harbored an outright loathing for pirates. She also professed a fondness for rain. Her son's death devastated her, and learning of Senor Pink's deception left her shattered. After entering her vegetative state, she could no longer engage with the world or voice her emotions, yet when her husband visited wearing Gimlet's bonnet, pacifier, and diaper, she smiled again, a sign that some part of her still registered his love.

Russian and Senor Pink first crossed paths on the street while both sheltered from the rain, kept meeting, and fell in love. They married and had a son, Gimlet, but soon after Senor Pink departed to raid with the Donquixote Pirates, telling her the lie that he worked as a banker. During his absence Gimlet died of a fever, and Russian uncovered the truth about her husband after phoning the bank he claimed to work for. Repulsed, she left him despite his pleas and despite a raging storm, then got caught in a landslide that placed her in a vegetative state, with doctors doubting she would recover or ever express herself again. Heartbroken, Senor Pink nonetheless kept visiting and worked to coax a smile from her, finally succeeding once he donned Gimlet's bonnet and pacifier. Since he first wore that infant attire during the takeover of Dressrosa, these events fall somewhere between ten and sixteen years before the present. She died an unspecified number of years after entering the vegetative state.
