"Rebar" Smooge

From the waist up Smooge is heavily muscled, dressed in a dark short-sleeved top whose collar is ornamented. His chin is broad and bears a goatee, while his lengthy dreadlocks sit beneath a striped orange-and-yellow tricorne. Below the torso his body becomes that of a horse, ending in a black tail, a polka-dotted cloth knotted about the waist.

Smooge gave Caesar Clown his complete devotion, even calling him Master. That loyalty soured into shock and disgust once Caesar turned on his underlings, leaving Smooge feeling deeply wronged by the man he had served.

Four years before the main events, Smooge was already an inmate on Punk Hazard when Vegapunk's chemical weapon detonated, and the poison gas robbed him of the use of his legs. When Caesar reached the island a year afterward and fitted him with artificial replacements, he and the other former prisoners embraced the scientist as their master, never grasping that Caesar had caused their paralysis in the first place. Trafalgar Law later swapped those legs for animal ones. In combat Smooge swung an oddly shaped double-headed war hammer, capable of cutting down several Marines, and during the Punk Hazard conflict he fought the G-5 outside the laboratory before retreating inside at Caesar's command. As Luffy began to corner Caesar, the scientist released the lethal H2S gas he had merged with and spoke of replacing his subordinates. Convinced the cruelty had to be a ruse, Smooge and the others watched in horror as Caesar used the gas to slaughter the very men who had trusted him.
