Wilder

Standing tall, Wilder bears a pair of scars crossing over his right eye on that side of his face. Atop his head rests a black captain's hat trimmed with gold-rimmed goggles. His outfit consists of a glittering black suit held by a belt, equally sparkling trousers, and a set of black boots. In keeping with the habit of high-ranking Marines, he lets his Marine coat hang from his shoulders the way a cape would.

A believer in absolute justice, Wilder readily exploits and manipulates the people serving under him whenever it advances his aims. Lying comes naturally: he promised Pokke that the boy's father would walk free once the Straw Hats were captured, yet broke that promise the instant the work was finished. He behaves with reckless flair, often shouting his catchphrase "Let's go wild," and, as is common among the cast, he sports a signature laugh that goes "Geva geva geva geva."

Holding the rank of Vice Admiral puts the lower Marines at Wilder's command and gives him a share in directing the Buster Call alongside his fellow officers. He devoured a Paramecia-type fruit, the Nepa Nepa no Mi, which grants him the power to summon searing heat waves, and he keeps a Basho Fan on hand to spread those waves toward his foes. Since every Vice Admiral is reportedly capable of Haki, he too can call upon it. The moment the Straw Hats arrived at his island, he took Pokke's father captive and pressured the boy into using the Mono Mono no Mi to conjure copies of the crew's former enemies. Teaming with Pokke and Fujitora, he subdued the pirates, then refused to release the hostage. After the crew escaped and Pokke came back beside Luffy, the trapped officer let loose his fiercest technique, Ikazuchi Neppa, bringing Promise Land down around them, until Luffy ended the fight with Gear 4.
