Zabo was an intruder who slipped into Upper Yard on Skypiea and lost his life for it. Pursued relentlessly by Enel's priests, he meets his end when the self-styled god's divine punishment burns him away.

Appearance

Built like an average man, Zabo wore his shaggy red dreadlocks bound under an orange headband and finished with round gold earrings. His feet were bare. The shorts in dark purple and the white shirt he had on both ended up grimy and torn as the priests ran him down, and a dagger rode at his hip on a sash slung across his left side.

Personality

Anyone capable of killing him left Zabo terrified, and he plainly shook before the priests, certain he stood no chance against them. The anime sharpens his edge somewhat, having him threaten to kill Nami unless she allowed him onto her waver.

History

Set against the priests, Zabo was powerless, unable to handle even a single one of them, never mind the full quartet. A dagger hung at his side, though it was never clear whether he could wield it with any skill. Ohm hunted him among the trees of Upper Yard, and a whistled signal called in the dog Holy, which nearly sank its teeth into him until Shura cut in to claim the kill for himself. Zabo bolted again, now harried by Shura and the bird Fuza.

With the priests bickering over who would do him in, a bazooka shot from a guerrilla bought Zabo just enough room to stagger to the boundary of Upper Yard. Battered and bleeding, he caught sight of Nami and pleaded for a spot on her waver, promising to repay her however he could. An instant later, Enel's divine punishment swallowed him and left nothing behind. The anime reworks the sequence, throwing in a stumble and a scene of all four priests fighting over the right to kill him, and it changes his exchange with Nami so that he claims to have crossed over from another Sky Island chasing treasure and draws his dagger to menace her.
