In the flaming corridor, Fukurokuju is fully engulfed and drops to the ground. Raizo speaks his last words to the fallen enemy as the ninja succumbs to his wounds. Jinbe then arrives, smothering the blaze with Fish-Man Karate before tending to the exhausted Raizo, having first freed three trapped samurai along the way.

Up on the rooftop, Luffy's Gear Fourth assault lands early hits, but Kaidou turns the tide. Shifting into his azure dragon, the Emperor gulps Luffy down, spits him skyward, and blasts him with Bolo Breath, hurling him through Onigashima toward the ocean. Luffy switches to Boundman to keep from plunging into the water.

Before he can climb to the roof, Guernika is ambushed by Drake and stabbed with his sword. The agent recovers instantly, felling Drake with a single Shigan, then resumes his climb. Luffy, whose body can only hold Gear Fourth for a short window, has one fading chance to finish Kaidou. As he clashes with the drunken Emperor, Guernika intervenes and pins him, handing Kaidou an unearned opening.

To his own dismay, Kaidou drives a strike home and knocks Luffy out cold. Flashbacks throughout the fight contrast how Luffy and Kaidou each regard the people of Wano.

Part of the Wano Country Arc, this entry debuts Luffy's Over Kong Gun and Kaidou's Horai Hakke. The adaptation adds Fukurokuju collapsing from heat exhaustion, Jinbe locating trapped samurai before Raizo, Luffy straining to hold his energy in Gear Fourth, and viewpoint flashbacks. It lengthens the Drake versus Guernika clash, the Fire Festival activity, and the whole final exchange ending in Luffy's collapse.
