Navy Headquarters Admiral Aokiji! The Ferocity of an Ultimate Powerhouse!

Robin's panic confirms that the lounging stranger is Aokiji, one of three admirals who, alongside Akainu and Kizaru, make up the World Government's strongest fighting power. He waves off the crew's wariness, insisting that a simple walk is all he is after, in keeping with his strange motto of justice done lazily. He admits he came merely to confirm Robin's whereabouts following Arabasta, and warns that reporting her link to the crew will raise their combined bounty once hers is folded in.

Aokiji aids a band of shipwreck survivors, the very travelers whose boat the crawl-stroking frog Yokozuna had wrecked, by dipping his hand into the sea and triggering Ice Age, freezing a rising Sea King along with the surrounding water into a path that holds for a week. After sending them off, he lingers and tells Luffy he is the spitting image of his grandfather Garp, which sets Luffy sweating. His tone then hardens as he names Robin the crew's real threat and needles her over a past spent betraying allies to survive. When Robin uses her devil fruit to grab him, he shrugs it off, and her Treinta Fleur: Clutch only shatters an ice double. Aokiji conjures an Ice Saber, and although Zoro and Sanji block it, the admiral freezes the trio's limbs, locking solid Zoro's arm, Sanji's leg, and Luffy's fist, before catching Robin in a freezing bear hug.

The reason behind Luffy's fear at any mention of his grandfather is saved for a later episode. In the manga, the Davy Back Fight is what precedes the crew's first run-in with Aokiji, who turns up by Tonjit's hut, and the ice power he displays there helps Tonjit rather than the shipwrecked passengers featured in the anime. This installment also debuts Yokozuna and the Master of the Waters, along with Aokiji's Ice Age, Ice Saber, and Ice Time.
