Switching into Gear 2, Luffy startles the watching Kuja with the change in his body, yet the crowd still doubts he can topple the two Gorgon sisters. Sandersonia lashes out with her many-tailed assault, but he weaves through every strike, leaving her baffled until she grasps that his sheer speed has outrun even her observation. He hooks an arm around her neck and slams her down, then shatters Marigold's weapon with a Jet Bazooka. The spectators reel as the outsider takes the upper hand, and an annoyed Hancock demands her sisters finish the bout.

The siblings unleash their fiercest moves at once, Sandersonia spreading her branching coils while Marigold sets her own hair ablaze. Luffy answers with a Jet Gatling barrage that snuffs both attacks, then drives them into each other with twin kicks, accidentally igniting Sandersonia's hair from her sister's flames. Their tails knot together, her garments catch fire near the ring's edge, and her scarred back begins to show. Luffy leaps onto her and orders her to stay still, hiding the very thing she would rather die than reveal. Realizing he is protecting her, a shaken Hancock commands every woman to clear the arena.

With the stands emptied, the sisters and the elder Nyon marvel that the man they meant to kill has just spared all three of them. Asked why he would help an enemy who tried to end his life, Luffy answers that whatever is on their backs has no bearing on their fight. Hancock, glimpsing his true character at last, is left quietly weeping. The episode also revives a continuity slip, as women who fainted in the prior installment reappear in their earlier attacking poses.
