Hurry up, Luffy! Shirahoshi's Life in Jeopardy!

To draw the ark Noah off its path away from Fish-Man Island, Shirahoshi heads out into the sea, while Luffy depends on Sanji to launch him toward the hull's chains so he can reach Hody Jones. The princess passes through the palace gateway, leaving the air bubble for open water. Once the ship has cleared the bubble, Hody meets Luffy in the depths, and Luffy comes to realize how completely a fish-man outmatches him beneath the surface.

With his bubble coral, Hody shatters the protective sphere Luffy had made, and the rubber pirate starts to drown thanks to his Devil Fruit weakness. The finishing strike is turned aside by Fukaboshi, who gives Luffy the chance to breathe again.

When the citizens seize the chain to slow Noah, Hody drives them off with Yabusame, which enrages Luffy. Shirahoshi finds the palace entrance still open, ascends the corridor, and breaks out into the sea. While the hull climbs, Luffy bubbles himself at the final moment but slips free of the chain. Hody bursts that bubble too and flings his trident, only for Fukaboshi to step in. Elsewhere, Vander Decken IX proposes to Shirahoshi once more and, met with refusal, releases another flurry of blades that Manboshi, Ryuboshi, and Hoe deflect.

Her brothers caution Shirahoshi to stay in the trenches and clear of Noah, recalling their father's instruction that the ark has to be lowered onto the seabed without a scratch. Carried on Fukaboshi's back, Luffy requests to be brought up to Noah's deck where air will let him fight, but Hody, fueled by Energy Steroids, unsheathes his huge scythe Kirisame and overtakes them. Arriving on the deck first, he chats idly with Decken, then abruptly runs him through with his trident and wonders aloud what will happen to the ship once its controller is dead.

The manga never depicted Hody popping Luffy's bubble ahead of Fukaboshi's rescue. The anime also includes a beat in which her second refusal visibly devastates Vander Decken IX.
