A Scorching Battle! Luffy vs. the Giant Dragon!

Confronted by the dragon, Luffy, Zoro, Robin, and Usopp freeze when it speaks, then scatter as it lets loose a broad sheet of flame. Jet Pistol barely scratches its stony hide, and a tail swing drives Luffy into the ground. Zoro charges, slips clear of the snapping jaws, and connects with Ultra-Hunt, yet the creature shakes it off and keeps coming. Furious, Luffy explodes out of the rubble and lands a surprise kick that finally wounds it. The dragon climbs into the air, spewing more fire and demanding to know whether they serve a certain Warlord, hinting at some grudge.

Improvising, Luffy springs upward, searing his palm on a burning wall, and while sprawled across the dragon's spine he spots a pair of legs poking out of it. As the beast lunges, Luffy jams its own wing into its mouth, and it bites down, yelps, and plummets. Zoro then vaults off Usopp's Trampolia and brings Iai: Shi Shishi Sonson down to slice the head free. As the pair fall, Robin's sprouted arms catch them while Luffy quips that the dragon looks delicious.

Aboard the Sunny, Sanji wraps up a meal for Nami only to discover the whole crew slumped asleep within a drifting haze. Realizing the cloud is gas, not mist, he reaches for the Den Den Mushi to alert Luffy but collapses himself, having already inhaled too much. Figures in hazmat suits marked PH then arrive and carry off the crew, sparing only Brook, and speak of delivering their prisoners to a master.

The adaptation lets the dragon clamp onto its wing more than once and inserts the moment Nami, Chopper, Franky, and Brook succumb to the gas, plus Robin rescuing the two swordsmen from their plunge. The beheading is toned down, its depiction showing no blood and leaving the spine out of frame. Both the preview cue and the eyecatcher track are reset to a new arrangement leaning heavily on trumpets, matching the reworked music. The opening once again folds in a preview for the film, and Kin'emon makes his entrance here as the upper-bodiless man.
