The 626th One Piece episode opens the anime-only Caesar Retrieval Arc as Breed and his Sea Lapahn army storm the Sunny and abduct Caesar. Luffy, Law, and Chopper give chase to a colossal ship, only for Breed's controlling power to turn Chopper against them.
As most of the crew sleeps, a huge sea creature surfaces bearing Breed, whose pack of Sea Lapahns assaults the Thousand Sunny. The defenders fight back until Breed calls off the swarm and reveals himself atop the ship, having snatched Caesar. Luffy's counterattack is blocked by a Kung Fu Dugong wielding an Armament Haki fist, and Breed slips away with his prize. Law's attempt to lock him down with Room is foiled when the Lapahns rock the vessel, and the crew spots an island-sized ship flying a Jolly Roger that resembles Breed.
Luffy, Law, and Chopper take the Shark Submerge III in pursuit. Chopper notes the Sea Lapahns resemble the Lapahns of Drum Island, his old home, and Law needles him as a tanuki. Boarding the enormous ship, the trio battles Lapahns, an Octopus Boxer, and other sea beasts, and the Dugong from before returns, only to recognize Luffy as the foe who once beat him in Arabasta and embrace him in delight.
Caged with Seastone cuffs, Caesar begs Breed to free him so he can reach Doflamingo, but Breed mocks him as worthless and reveals he serves no one, intending to build a kingdom of pets with Caesar's help. When the scientist refuses, Breed turns his Peto Peto no Mi on him. The Dugong, leader of the Sea Animal Pirates, explains that Breed enslaved his crew in the New World. Breed then collars Chopper, forces him into Monster Point, and uses the rampage as cover to leash Luffy and Law as well.
This is the first episode of the filler Caesar Retrieval Arc and the last to air in 2013. Breed's Peto Peto no Mi lets him manipulate living things, and Luffy mistakenly reads its sticky-sounding name as a slime power, a wink that foreshadows Trebol's Beta Beta no Mi. The reunited Kung Fu Dugong becomes the second animal shown using Haki after Alpacacino, and Law nicknames Chopper Tanuki-ya, blending the running tanuki joke with his habit of adding the suffix to names.
Yes. Episodes 626 through 628 make up the anime-original Caesar Retrieval Arc, with episode 626, Caesar Goes Missing! The Pirate Alliance Makes a Sortie, serving as its opening filler installment.
In episode 626, the Sea Lapahn commander Breed storms the Thousand Sunny with his beast army and abducts Caesar Clown, escaping before Luffy, Law, or the crew can stop him.
Breed cages Caesar in Seastone cuffs and mocks his pleas to be freed, revealing he serves no one and intends to use Caesar's help to build a kingdom of pets.
Luffy, Law, and Chopper chase Breed's colossal ship using the Shark Submerge III, then board it and fight through Sea Lapahns and other sea beasts to try to reach Caesar.
The Peto Peto no Mi is the Devil Fruit power debuting in episode 626 that lets Breed manipulate living creatures, which he uses to control Sea Lapahns and eventually Chopper.
