Summary

The Urashima bout behind him, Luffy demands to face the chief of Bakura Town and free Tama, but onlookers call the group rebels and rush in. He and Zoro push the swarm back, and Kiku draws a katana to join. Told the leader is Holed'em, Luffy keeps garbling it into Ball-de-boo. In the destitute Okobore Town, meanwhile, hunger still grips the children, Tsuru must treat yet another youngster sickened by the polluted water, and a laborer who dares complain about his thin wage at the well-fed Bakura is struck down.

Key Events

Inside the gifter's house, the pinned Holed'em shoves Urashima's limp form aside while his lion seizes the fleeing Tama by the leg, and flames take hold. At the gate arrives Speed, an officer bearing a horse SMILE, aghast at the ruined town and the burning home. Holed'em at last appears atop a pagoda with Tama in the lion's jaws and oddly charges Luffy with serving a man named Shutenmaru. Luffy gapes at the lion lodged in the gifter's stomach. As Hawkins nears town meaning to help bring Luffy down, Law together with the Heart Pirates catch sight of him, and Luffy steels himself for the fight.

Notes

The episode debuts Rabbitman, Snakeman, Kinbo, Yame, Speed, and Inoichibannosuke. Anime-original touches have Luffy fling his Nidai Kitetsu scabbard for Zoro to catch as the brawl opens, and they show Holed'em hauling Urashima off himself while grabbing Tama. The Bakura Town clash, the group against the Beasts Pirates and allied samurai, runs longer than its printed counterpart.
