Nox Pirates

Originally calling themselves the Nox Expedition Party, this band of minks set out from Zou under Pedro to track down a poneglyph. Because studying those stones is branded a crime by the World Government, the explorers were marked as criminals, handed bounties, and forced into the life of pirates. The crew met its end in Totto Land five years before the present, an outcome that broke it apart.

Their vessel was a modest ship topped with a jaguar figurehead, bearing the word NOX on both its spotted sail and its dark flag, and dressed up with palm trees. The name itself is Latin for night, which Pedro tied to his wish to summon a new dawn the way each night gives way to morning.

Little has been recorded about the crew's overall power during its active years, yet two of its key figures each carried bounties topping three hundred million Berries. Even after the group splintered, the two who remained managed to slip into the heart of Big Mom's domain and reach Whole Cake Island, where Pedro wounded one of her fighters, Tamago. As the years wore on, mounting injuries and sagging morale drove most of the crew to retire, with Pekoms guiding the worn-out members to safety under Big Mom's protection.

Pedro captained the crew, sailing alongside Zepo and Pekoms. When Pedro and Zepo later targeted Big Mom's poneglyph in Totto Land, they found Pekoms had joined her ranks. The two suffered a devastating loss, and Zepo was killed by Big Mom's powers after a roulette penalty. To spare himself, Pedro gouged out his own left eye and declared he had to return to Zou to see the dawn of the world, a gesture that impressed Big Mom into taking only fifty years of his life. Pedro went on to lead the Guardians on Zou and ultimately gave his life helping the Straw Hats escape Totto Land.
