Function

The design is stripped down and unadorned, made up of nothing more than a blade, its scabbard, and a hilt that lacks any guard. That grip is dark and carries a repeating diamond motif along its length. Because it came out of Wano Country, where the smithing tradition is held to be exceptional, the weapon rates as a fine piece of work. Paired with Kawamatsu's own power and technique, it can cut down whole groups of Beasts Pirates with a single sweep. The blade forms the foundation of his self-styled Kappa Style, the swordsmanship he built as a samurai.

Notable Users

Kawamatsu is the sole wielder. He purchased the sword as a young man, after Shimotsuki Yasuie handed money to him and the other retainers so they could tidy their appearance, and from then on it became his samurai weapon. The blade was seized once after the Beasts Pirates defeated and imprisoned Kouzuki Oden together with the Nine Red Scabbards. Following Oden's death and the group's escape, Shinobu recovered the confiscated arms and returned this one to its owner. Years later, when Kawamatsu was jailed in Udon for theft, the sword was taken from him again until Raizo broke him out and gave it back. Its name borrows from a sumo maneuver, fitting given Kawamatsu's own background as a sumo wrestler, in which a fighter sweeps out an opponent's leg using the arm.
