Chapter 1105

With every soldier recalled to the fleet ahead of the bombardment, Saturn announces that he and Kizaru will stay on the island and orders the shelling to begin at once. Vegapunk pleads for the order to be lifted, arguing that wiping out the island erases a century of progress, but Saturn brushes him off, insisting humanity has no further use for advancement and that the scientist may be concealing more secrets.

Saturn then reveals he had the fleeing researchers hunted down, claiming any of them might have stumbled onto knowledge of the Void Century. He blames Vegapunk's own appetite for discovery for dragging the innocent staff to their deaths. As the cannon fire opens, Sanji loads Franky, Atlas, Bonney, and Kuma onto the Vacuum Rocket and peels off alone to retrieve Vegapunk, contacting Nami to relay the danger.

Nami reports that Zoro is still locked with Lucci, that Jinbe has gone to fetch him, and that the Vegaforce-01 is gone, scrapping their original plan. Lilith and Brook, meanwhile, slide the Thousand Sunny along frozen clouds toward the rear entrance. Kizaru shatters the rocket's tube, dropping everyone into the air, and Saturn orders the Pacifista to gun down Kuma and Bonney.

Saturn and Kizaru decline evacuation and trigger the Buster Call. Vegapunk offers his own life to halt the attack and warns that destroying Egghead's research sets the world back a hundred years, but Saturn refuses. He admits to ordering the evacuation vessel sunk, pinning the blame on Vegapunk for studying forbidden subjects much as the Ohara scholars once did.

Sanji ferries the others to the Vacuum Rocket before doubling back for Vegapunk, learning over the Den Den Mushi that Jinbe is aiding Zoro and that Robin lies injured under Chopper's care. Brook freezes the clouds so Lilith can move the Sunny. Kizaru intercepts and crashes the rocket, and Saturn commands the Pacifista to fire on the survivors. Luffy, bloated from gorging on the food machine's output, is cornered by Marines.

Saturn frames Kuma's sacrifice for his daughter as the height of folly, echoing the chapter's title. Unknown to either Vegapunk or the Five Elders, the warship dispatched to destroy the escapees was itself destroyed by an unidentified force, and a surviving Marine scrambles to warn Kizaru that newcomers are bearing down on Egghead. The cover page features a request for Carrot cooking and taste-testing a stew.
