Fist of Love

Two days on from the Enies Lobby ordeal, the Sea Train returns to Water 7 hauling timber for the rebuilding effort. On Scrap Island, Zoro stands over the ruined Yubashiri, remembering the day it came into his hands. Paulie splits the city into zones and tasks the dock crews with mending each section between their usual working hours, while the Franky Family patches up their wrecked house. At Dock 1, townsfolk and reporters press in to apologize to the crew for the false accusations. Helping move heavy debris, the giants Oimo and Kashii tell Usopp they intend to return to Elbaf, since Little Garden is off-limits, and ask him to come along.

Having destroyed the Pluton blueprints, Franky shares that news with Iceburg and finds the shipwright sketching plans to keep the sinking city afloat one day. A Den Den Mushi call arrives: the thing Franky bought for 200,000,000 berries has finally come in.

Roused after sleeping for two days, the crew is reunited with their seized money and belongings, and Nami throws her arms around a returned orange tree. Franky recounts the legend of Treasure Tree Adam, an indestructible tree whose pricey black-market lumber he secretly purchased with the pirates' stolen funds, intending to build them his dream vessel. The overjoyed crew agrees to sail it. Outside, a Marine warship belonging to Vice Admiral Garp, the famed officer who once hunted Gol D. Roger, has docked. Garp smashes through the wall, drives Luffy's skull into the floor with what he calls his Fist of Love, then peels off his mask to reveal himself as the boy's grandfather.

The Post-Enies Lobby Arc begins here. Franky confirms the Pluton plans are destroyed, Iceburg shares his ambition to make the whole city float, and every one of the crew's possessions is recovered. The Adam wood, the same kind that built Roger's Oro Jackson, will become the new ship. Garp is introduced as the legend who repeatedly cornered Roger and as Luffy's grandfather, a revelation that stuns the crew. The color spread shows prep-school versions of Luffy, Robin, and Chopper stranded among jungle wildlife.
