Chapter 488

Ten years after parting from Laboon, Brook drifts utterly alone through the Florian Triangle, joking and dancing to fill the silence until he remembers there is no one left to perform for. He sinks into sleep and dreams his crew is alive again, trampling the deck to sing a landfall song, only to wake and find himself solitary once more. A further memory returns him to the days after Yorki sailed for the Calm Belt, when the remaining crew vowed to honor their captain's wish and circle the world back to Laboon.

In the present on Thriller Bark, Brook lifts the crown of his skull and produces a tone dial, which Luffy recognizes from Skypiea. He explains it holds the Rumbar Pirates' last song, kept so Laboon would know they stayed joyful until the end, and asks to play it. As the dial sounds, Lola leads the Rolling Pirates in singing along. The accompanying flashback shows the crew's final moments after a poisoned enemy attack with no doctor left to save them. Choosing to die having fun, they played Binks' Sake one last time while Brook recorded it, promising to carry it to Laboon if his Yomi Yomi no Mi brought him back. One by one the poison took them, from quartet to trio to duet to a lone Brook, until the song ended.

The final days of the Rumbar Pirates are depicted, including Brook's first bounty and the deaths that preceded his revival. Brook reveals the tone dial holding their last performance, meant for Laboon, and the full lyrics of Binks' Sake appear, sung across his death, his lonely years, and the present feast. The experience renews Brook's resolve to join the Straw Hats and keep his promise.
