Titled "The War's Conclusion," the chapter sees Shanks call a halt to the carnage at Marineford, Luffy and Jinbe slip away aboard Law's submarine, and Sengoku formally declare the great battle over.
Marines marvel that Shanks reached Marineford so fast after clashing with Kaido only a day earlier. The red-haired captain coaxes Buggy into delivering Luffy's straw hat to Law, dangling the promise of a treasure map to his old crewmate. Buggy hurries off to comply. When Lucky Roux asks whether Shanks truly will not visit the boy after ten years apart, Shanks admits he longs to, but seeing Luffy in this state would break the promise between them.
Akainu curses Shanks while Aokiji tries to seal the submarine in ice and Kizaru fires a barrage of light, but the Heart Pirates dive clear, and Kizaru talks the other admirals into standing down for now. Sensing Luffy alive, Boa Hancock commandeers a Marine battleship to pursue. Shanks orders Marco to withdraw so the fighting cannot reignite, Mihawk leaves, declaring he never agreed to oppose Shanks, and Blackbeard, content with his prize, departs without resistance. Shanks asks the Marines to let the Whitebeard side mourn their dead in private rather than have the losses paraded to the world. Accepting that resolve, Sengoku takes responsibility, orders the wounded cared for, and proclaims the end of the greatest war since the dawn of the pirate age.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...
Luffy's straw hat passes to Law by way of Buggy and Shanks. The Heart Pirates escape Marineford carrying Luffy and Jinbe, trailed by Hancock's battleship, and the Blackbeard Pirates leave without penalty. Several of Shanks' previously unnamed crewmen return as more prominent figures. This is the final chapter of the Marineford Arc, and its cover, showing Tashigi teaching Koby about swords while Helmeppo chases lunch-stealing raccoons, marks the first time Marine characters appear on a standard animal cover.
