Titled "Blizzard With a Chance of Slime," this chapter has Luffy tangle with the body-swapped Smoker and Tashigi before Slime rains from the sky, detonating the stolen marine ship. Caesar reveals his pet's spreading menace just as Luffy grabs him.
The sudden arrival of Luffy, Robin, and Franky throws Caesar's underlings into disarray. Tashigi, trapped in Smoker's body, finally forces a deliberate smoke transformation and attacks Luffy, who easily dodges and wonders aloud why Smoker grew so weak. The real Smoker, stuck in Tashigi's frame, then strikes with his seastone jitte, baffling Luffy until Robin guesses Law is behind the swap. Once it clicks, Luffy bursts out laughing, slips into Gear 2, and tells Smoker their real fight will wait until the marine has his own body back.
Notably, Luffy is able to seize Smoker's intangible body for the first time using Haki. Franky blasts the lab's front entrance open with his Radical Beam and calls the others inside, but the assault stalls as gluey blobs begin falling from the heavens. One lands on the commandeered marine vessel, oozing poison and acid; when a soldier torches it, the entire ship erupts in a violent explosion and is reduced to splinters, horrifying Smoker and Tashigi as their men are wiped out.
More blobs keep raining down, and Caesar appears atop the wreckage to explain that Slime, hating water, fires pieces of its larger body across the lake from the burning side of the island. Each fragment releases toxic gas on contact and detonates if ignited, with even a small piece able to obliterate a ship. He gloats that once every piece gathers, the area will become a fresh poison-gas catastrophe. Mid-boast, Luffy cuts him off by grabbing him outright, stunning the scientist and opening their confrontation.

In Chapter 670, Luffy is confused when the smoke-transforming fighter he dodges turns out weaker than expected and the jitte-wielding one is unexpectedly strong, until Robin guesses that Law swapped Smoker and Tashigi's bodies. Once it clicks, Luffy laughs, shifts into Gear 2, and tells Smoker their real fight will wait until he has his own body back.
