Wanda, the canine in Nami's stolen clothes, vaults skyward to scout the disturbance before grimly telling the rattled pirates that their friends lie slain in the Right Belly Forest. She and Carrot gallop off astride the crocodile Wany, leaving the Straw Hats shaken, though Zoro swears Sanji would never allow his group to die. Resigned to never reuniting with his own crew, Law suddenly recalls that Bepo's Vivre Card is still on him.

Over at the Whale Forest, the guardian minks pile onto Luffy, baffled that their Electro has no effect. The arrival of Wanda and Carrot soothes both factions. Surveying the wreckage, the crew judges the assault to be only a couple of weeks old. Wanda at last identifies Jack as the culprit and offers to bear Luffy to his friends just as the Eruption Rain begins to stir.

A new cover serial opens around the report of Luffy's fresh bounty. Wanda's grim message implies Sanji's group is dead. Three further minks debut as the Whale Forest's appointed Guardians: the bull Roddy, the gorilla Blackback, and the jaguar Pedro. Bepo's origin is disclosed; he hails from the island and belongs to the same animal-people, the Mink Tribe. Following the timeskip, Law's crew surfaces here for the very first time, and the recent nature of Jack's assault is confirmed.

Wanda's mount, the crocodile, is named Wany.
