Chapter 897

Four minutes from the rendezvous, the Sunny comes into Cacao Island's view, and the Straw Hats stare at the sheer mass of Big Mom Pirates waiting; Jinbe calls them the Grand Fleet. Behind them, Smoothie orders her ships to seal off the rear so the crew is boxed in. In the Mirro-World, Pekoms tells Luffy that once he takes Sulong form he loses control and can only hear Pedro's voice, and explains he is repaying Pedro's dying wish by serving as a diversion while Luffy slips away. A captive Brûlée sneers that it will fail and is told to be quiet.

Pekoms emerges from the mirror using Brûlée as a shield, removes his glasses, and looks up at the full moon. Enraged at the betrayal, Oven heats the gun and pins him with a Heat Wave Fist as the army piles on, knocking Luffy out of Pekoms' mane. Sanji radios the crew that Luffy is out, then leaps in to kick away Raisin, scoops up his captain, and the two flee into the sky; Oven counters that some of his pirates can use Geppo. The mob beats Pekoms and tries to gouge his eyes, and the distraction lets Yuen strike Sanji and Luffy down, with bullets somehow bouncing off them. An explosion then torches the docked Tartes ships: Germa 66 has arrived. The Vinsmoke children surround Luffy and Sanji and block the gunfire, Ichiji sarcastically thanking the Big Mom Pirates for the tea party.

Stansen reappears as the New Giant Warrior Pirates shipwright. Pekoms cannot reliably control Sulong and steadies only when Pedro is near. Raisin wields Armament Haki, Luffy reaches Cacao Island, Sanji reunites with him, Snack's face is shown, and Germa 66 joins the fray. The cover continues the Hajrudin Arc deserter feature.
